Forest Heath District and St Edmundsbury Borough Councils share services as West Suffolk councils.

Forest Heath is located in rural Suffolk, covering approximately 146 square miles. The population of 63,000 (mid 2014 estimate) live in villages and three ancient market towns, the largest being Newmarket, the international home of horseracing. Forest Heath borders three counties and is very close to Cambridge. It has excellent trunk road connections, including proximity to Stansted airport and east coast ports. It is also home to two of the largest United States Air Force (USAF) airbases in the UK: RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.
